Our last day in Halifax was beautiful. After a hearty breakfast, we walked up (emphasis on the ’up’) to the Natural History Museum. It does a great job of showing people what it’s like to be a natural scientist, and there were lots of cool things to see. The most impressive, perhaps, was Gus the tortoise. He is 100 years old and still does what tortoises do… which isn’t much. Pictured below are a moose, a collection of different kinds of poop, whale ear bones (!), a mastodon sign, a mastodon skeleton, and Gus.
Next we visited the Halifax Public Gardens. If I lived in Halifax, I would spend as much time as possible in these gardens. I imagine it’s never the same, season to season, and always lovely and relaxing.
Then we walked back (downhill, thankfully) to our hotel. On the way we saw St. Mary’s Basilica, which is very tall and pointy. Then we had lunch at Salty’s, a restaurant very near to our hotel, and right on the boardwalk. After that it was time to finish packing, catch an Uber, say goodbye to Kim’s mom, and head to the airport.
We‘ll catch an overnight flight and wake up in Dublin, Ireland!
