This morning we packed our things and made for Dublin.
Tomorrow, we fly to London (and then drive to Wales) very early, so our options were…
A) Leave our rental cottage at 3am and drive to Dublin in the dark, on the “wrong” side, on roads wide enough for one and a half cars,
B) Pay $400 for a hotel room in Dublin that we would be in for all of six hours, or
C) Hang out in Dublin, have some dinner, and camp out at the airport.
We‘very chosen Option C. We visited the Botanical Gardens, and I think they may be my new favorite botanical gardens!
There were lots of animals and little grottos with plants from far and wide. This garden is well-known for its Victorian greenhouses, which have been nicely restored.
After that, we returned our rental car and walked to the Patriot’s Inn, which has been an inn since 1793. We enjoyed some soups, sandwiches, and salads, and then got a taxi to the airport. We’ll find a cozy place with outlets to power our devices and benches to rest on.
